5 Mistakes You’re Making at the Gym
Let’s start off by saying we love our members. And when you love something, you help it become better. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s list the things you’re doing wrong.
10 Ways to Burn Calories and Reduce Fat
The desire to burn fat is one of the main reasons why people start exercising. They want to look and feel better. That might have been the start of your fitness journey, too. There are a lot of factors that play into burning fat. It’s not as simple as exercising once a day, five times a week.
Fact or Fiction: Meditation Improves Your Fitness
Have you ever tried meditation? You might be thinking, “Meditation? I barely have enough time in between work, life, and kids to exercise, let alone meditate.” But what if meditation could actually improve your fitness and well-being… Would that change how you spend your time to include meditation in your schedule?
Am I Eating Enough?
We are heading into summer (finally!), so in preparation for that, many of us are in a calorie deficit. Going through seasons of cutting (calorie deficit) and bulking (calorie surplus) can be a great way to reach your fitness goals without exhausting your body, but in those times, you need to really listen to your body.
Taking Strides
You’ve probably heard people say, “I’ve got to get my steps in,” or “At least I got some steps.” But how important is it really to get your steps in?
Setting Goals and Reaching them
Setting goals and reaching them makes you better. It’s definitely not always easy, but the end result is always worth it. When choosing your goals and New Year’s Resolutions, try changing the question you ask yourself. Don’t ask, “What do I need to change about myself,” or “What do I need to fix?” Instead ask, “What can I do to make this year more joyful,” and “How can I grow and flourish?”
Staying Healthy In The Holidays
Going into the holiday season, take some time to set guidelines for yourself. You want to enjoy the treats with everyone else but stay on track with your goals. Here are some tips on you can do that:
Getting In Your Protein
Protein is super important if you’re looking to gain muscle mass and lose weight. Depending on your fitness goal, you might need to eat more protein than you’re used to. Adjusting your diet and adding more protein can be tough, especially when you’re watching overall calories and other macros. But fear not, with some knowledge and discipline, you can do this!
Gym Therapy
Let’s talk about mental health. Physical health and mental health go hand-in-hand. When your body is not doing well more than likely your mental state is not doing well either. Yes, there are multiple ways to combat mental health (i.e. medication, coping mechanisms, therapy etc.), but how about a way that will improve BOTH your mental and physical well being.
Spot Training
Spot training, sometimes called spot reduction, is the idea that you can “train” one area of your body to reduce fat without it affecting other parts of your body. Some people want to lose excess belly fat or underarm fat, some people even want to target areas as little as their “second chin”.
Pre-Workout??
BCAAs, Citrulline, Creatine, and Beta-Alanine are some of the most common ingredients found in pre-workouts. So unless you eat, sleep, and breathe the gym, or studied Exercise science in college you might not recognize the things. Let’s break it down.
